Never tempt fate.
It's an idiom that those who want to live long, healthier lives abide by.
One boda boda rider threw all caution to the wind when he attempted to cross the flooded Kongit River in Kilgoris, Narok County, on Christmas Day.
In a video that has since gone viral on the internet, the boda boda rider, perhaps accustomed to daredevil feats that convinced him of his own invisibility, attempts to motor his way across the turbulent waters to the other side of the bridge. And bridge he did cross; from this world to the next.
According to a police report seen by 'TV47 Digital', the incident was reported at Kilgoris Police Station in Transmara West a day later. "Police collected motorcycle Reg KMDQ 555F TVs star red in colour with some parts missing," says the report.
The motorcycle was "collected by police as abandoned at Jamuhuri area and has been positively identified as the one which was being ridden by the victim. The same is being detained at the station pending retrieval, and identification of the victim."
However, Transmara West Deputy sub-County Commissioner Mohamed Noor Hasan later clarified that the body was retrieved and is being preserved at the Nyamache Hospital mortuary as the family continues with the burial preparations.
