Soldier beats man to death after catching him romping with wife in matrimonial bed

Police have launched a manhunt for a Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) soldier who allegedly beat his wife's lover to death.

It is reported that Walter Opito returned to his home unannounced on Saturday, January 14 in Dokolo District where he caught his wife - Dina Akello - having sex with one Patrick Ogwang in their matrimonial bed.

The incident is said to have angered the military officer who assaulted both his wife and Ogwang leading to the death of the man.

Confirming the incident, North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema says that Opito raised alarm upon his arrival inviting his neighbors who helped him in assaulting the two lovebirds.

"Our territorial police in Dokolo District are hunting for Opito Walter, Adoko Toolkit, Ogwang Abel, and others for allegedly assaulting to death Patrick Ogwang and injuring Dina Akello.

"They were rushed to a nearby health facility where Ogwang died the following day on Sunday and the woman was rushed to Dokolo Health Center IV for treatment," Okema said.

Following the incident, police have cautioned women whose husbands are working away from home to stop engaging in extra-marital affairs.
