Detectives in Ruiru, Kiambu County, have arrested two suspects masquerading as Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers.

The duo had reportedly raided a house at Elim Shepherd's apartment at around 1:00 AM where they introduced themselves as detectives based at Pangani Police Station.

However, the residents sensed something was amiss and immediately raised alarm, with officers from Ruiru Police Station rushing to the scene.

"The swift response by the Ruiru-based officers caught the thugs by surprise as one of them attempted to fly from the 3rd floor of the apartment only to land on the apartment’s floor with a heavy thud seriously injuring his head," DCI reports.

After realizing that they had no chance against the responding officers, the second suspect - identified as Robert Gitonga - surrendered immediately after handing over his fake pistol and fake police certificate of appointment.

Meanwhile, the injured suspect was rushed to Ruiru Level 4 Hospital for treatment while Gitonga is currently in custody at Ruiru Police Station.
