In Summary

  • Earlier this week, Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition unveiled what it termed as "fresh evidence" that Raila Odinga won the August 9 2022 Presidential Election but was rigged out.

  • Azimio cited a document they claim was provided by a whistleblower working at IEBC that allegedly indicates Odinga garnered 8,170,353 votes representing 57.3 percent while Ruto garnered 5,915,973 representing 41.66 percent.

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has downplayed claims by Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition that the August 2022 General Election was rigged in favour of President William Ruto.

Speaking at Yakamete village in Machakos County during the burial of Meshack Munyaka brother to Former Machakos town MP, Sonko described the allegations as "treason" and an attempt to seek relevance.

According to Sonko, the results of the election were availed for the public to scrutinise on the public portal provided by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

He also questioned the failure of the coalition to use the alleged evidence in their submissions at the Supreme Court in August 2022.

Sonko called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Inspector General to act in speed and investigate the claims.

He called on Kamba community to rally behind President Ruto.
