Police in Jinja City, Uganda have arrested a female teacher accused of promoting homosexuality in schools.
Kiira regional police spokesperson James Mubi said the arrest was made at PMM Girls School in Jinja City amid protests by parents over homosexuality rumours at the school.
They had allegedly stormed the school on Friday, March 3 threatening to transfer their girls due to reports of a lesbian teacher 'spoiling' students.
It appears that the school administration was slacking on the matter, prompting the protests.
Mubi revealed that the teacher's lesbian partner filed a report with the police, alleging that the accused neglected her and was recruiting young girls into the vice.
"Her alleged Lesbian partner, a 30-year-old, surrendered to police. We have the couple in our custody. The partner claims the teacher has been cheating on her and not providing her with basic needs," the police boss added.
The suspect's partner further alleged that the teacher has been dressing like a man to work.
Upon questioning, the teacher disputed the claims, saying she had rented a house for her partner and set up a timber business for her.
The police boss said the two would face sexual harassment charges once investigations were concluded.
