President William Ruto has nominated Mary Chebukati Wanyonyi, wife of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati, to chair the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA).

Wanyonyi is currently the Senior Deputy Accountant General and Head of the Accounting Unit in the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development.

She is a certified accountant and mediator who holds Master's Degrees in Business Administration and a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (Accounting), hence if approve will bring her vast experience in accounting to the CRA, if approved.

If approved by the Parliament Mary Chebukati will replace Dr. Jane Kirigai, who retired after serving CRA for six years before retiring.

According to State House Spokesperson Hussein Muhammed, the nomination exercise was proceeded by competitive recruitment process undertaken by the Public Service Commission.

Ms Wanyonyi was shortlisted by the PSC alongside Felicity Nkirote Biriri and  former Wundayi Member of Parliament Thomas Ludindi Mwadeghu.

She was previously shortlisted and interviewed for the position of Principal Secretary but was unsuccessful.

The President has also nominated Phyllis Wambui Wagacha for appointment as a member of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) to represent the PSC.

If approved by Parliament, Wagacha, who holds a Doctorate Degree  in Information Sciences, will succeed Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno who resigned to participate in the 2022 general elections.
