Eldas MP Adan Keynan Wehliye has said Northern Kenya is witnessing tangible and inclusive development for the first time, marking a major shift from decades of marginalization.
Speaking during the official launch of Al Bushra Islamic School in Elnur, Wajir County, the legislator said the region is now enjoying equal rights and government attention comparable to other parts of the country.

He noted that the changes being experienced on the ground are evidence of a deliberate effort by the national government to integrate Northern Kenya into the broader development agenda.
MP Keynan observed that for many years, communities in Northern Kenya were excluded from key national programmes, resulting in poor infrastructure and limited access to essential public services.
However, he said this trend is gradually being reversed through targeted investments and inclusive policies.

The Eldas lawmaker pointed to improvements in road networks, education facilities, health services, and water projects as some of the visible indicators of progress.
He added that these interventions are helping to open up the region economically while improving the quality of life for residents.
He attributed the gains to the Kenya Kwanza Government, saying its focus on equity, inclusion, and balanced development is addressing long-standing historical injustices.
According to the MP, the government’s approach is ensuring that no region is left behind in the country’s development journey.
Keynan further emphasized that education remains a key pillar in transforming Northern Kenya, noting that institutions such as Al Bushra Islamic School will play a critical role in empowering the next generation.
He urged local communities to support education initiatives as a foundation for sustainable development. The MP concluded by saying that the ongoing developments signal a new era of recognition, equity, and full integration of Northern Kenya within the Kenyan state, expressing optimism that the region will continue to benefit from national development programmes in the years ahead.
He also stated that the region recognizes and appreciates the Kenya Kwanza administration’s commitment to inclusive development and equity.
He said the visible investments in infrastructure, education, health, and other public services have restored confidence among communities that were long marginalized, adding that residents are ready to support the President’s leadership as he continues to prioritize the integration and development of Northern Kenya within the national agenda.
