Police officers arrested a suspected drug peddler during a crackdown in Likoni, Mombasa County on August 30, 2025.
In a statement on Sunday August 31, 2025, the National Police Service reported that officers from the Likoni Sub-County headquarters, acting on a tip-off from members of the public regarding a notorious drug peddler, conducted an operation in the Tonge Nyama area.
During the raid, the officers arrested one suspect and recovered two hundred and eighty-four (284) large rolls of cannabis sativa (bhang), which had been stashed in a sack inside his house.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will be arraigned in court on Monday September 1, 2025.
Meanwhile, NPS commended members of the public for providing the information that led to the operation’s success.
At the same time, the police expressed commitment to the fight against drug trafficking and abuse, and this operation is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard communities from the dangers of narcotics.
Elsewhere, in Kiambu County police arrested a suspected drug peddler in possession of 1,473 rolls of cannabis sativa (bhang) in Githurai 45 area.
The 28-year-old suspect was arrested by officers from Kiambu County Headquarters, who were conducting a coordinated operation against illicit drugs in Githurai 45 area.
A search into his rented house led to the discovery of the rolls of cannabis sativa and 2.1 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis.
The officers also recovered Ksh5,470 which they suspect to be proceeds from the sale of illicit substances.
