Nyashinski signs historic recording deal with Sony Music ahead of his new single ‘Tai Chi’

Nyamari Ongegu, popularly known as Nyashinski, has secured a historic recording deal with global music label Sony Music.

The “Vibes” artist was officially welcomed to the label alongside the announcement of the release of his new single, “Tai Chi,” marking the launch of his upcoming projects under Sony.

“Big welcome to the ‘Sony Music Africa’ family, @realshinski 🇰🇪 🐐. ‘Tai Chi’ out at midnight EAT,” Sony said in a statement on Instagram.

The Managing Director at Sony Music Africa, Sean Watson, said Nyashinski embodies the authenticity, versatility, longevity, and artistic excellence the world needs to see from East Africa.

“This partnership is about more than music; it’s about elevating the culture and giving East African voices the global platform they deserve,” Watson said.

Nyashinski expressed his excitement about joining the label, saying the partnership is a recognition of East African music, giving artists a platform to share their stories with the rest of the world.

“This partnership with Sony Music is more than just a deal; it’s a recognition of East Africa’s rich musical talent and a platform to showcase our stories to the world,” he said on his official Instagram account.

Nyashinski began his music journey in the early 2000s, being part of a Kenyan rap trio, ‘Kleptomaniax.’

After the group split, he stayed abroad for a couple of years before returning in 2016, reintroducing himself as a solo artist with hit singles such as ‘Now you know’ and ‘Mungu pekee,’ which has close to 3 million streams on Spotify.

Since then, he has consistently released chart-topping music, and the Sony Music Africa partnership is poised to catapult his career even further.
