Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga has expressed strong support for President William Ruto’s recent initiative to bring the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party into the Broad-Based Government.
Speaking during celebrations to mark the International Day of the Girl Child at Akoko Secondary School in Bondo Constituency, Dr. Oburu commended the President’s efforts to expand political inclusivity.
He noted that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is encouraged by the ongoing political realignments, describing them as a healthy development for the nation. He added that as ODM they are not threatened by the inclusion of more parties in the government, saying it is the best arrangement for all Kenyans.
Welcoming KANU Chairman Gideon Moi into the broader coalition, the Senator emphasized that ODM has no objections to his participation. However, he cautioned that such political alliances should be grounded in principles that prioritize the interests of the Kenyan people over personal or partisan gains.
Accompanied by Bondo Sub-County Administrator Mr. Vincent Kanyang’onda and Presidential Advisor on Economic empowerment Mr. Jaoko Oburu, the Senator also used the occasion to urge Kenyans particularly the youth, to take advantage of the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise.
Dr. Oburu expressed concern over the slow pace of registration and appealed to eligible citizens to turn out in greater numbers to ensure their voices are heard in future elections.
