The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Rarieda Branch Executive Committee has called on residents to maintain peace and unity during President William Ruto’s awaited visit to the constituency next weekend.
Speaking during their meeting in Aram, Rarieda ODM chairman Mr. Onyango Radier stated that the occasion which will be a thanksgiving ceremony for the Principal Secretary for Medical Services Dr. Ouma Oluga, should be marked by gratitude rather than political confrontation.
“We urge the people of Rarieda to welcome President Ruto wholeheartedly, we don’t expect leaders with political differences to cause chaos during the President’s event,” said Onyango.
He said that the community feels honored by the appointment of Dr. Ouma Oluga as a PS, and advised the residents to welcome the President wholeheartedly.
He asked politicians not to expose their political differences during the visit, saying that they must be peaceful and show respect to the visitor.
ODM Rarieda branch Youth Leader John Otieno-Jairo urged the young people not to be manipulated into causing disruptions.
Jairo told them not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to cause chaos in the presidential meeting.
Women leaders also voiced their support. Rose Akinyi Asumo, the branch deputy secretary, expressed gratitude for the President’s recognition of Rarieda through Dr. Ouma Oluga’s appointment.
“I want to warn those with intentions of disrupting the president’s event, that they keep off, otherwise we welcome the Head of State,” said Akinyi.
She equally welcomed the President to Rarieda and warned that anyone found disrupting the event would face consequences.
Jane Ayalo said that they expect the ceremony to be successful and the committee’s unified message underscores a desire to turn the President’s visit into a moment of pride for Rarieda, while appealing for calm and respect across the political divides.
