ODM leadership dismisses claims of party collapse

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership has dismissed claims that the party is on the verge of collapse following the death of its longtime leader, Raila Odinga.

Deputy party leader Godfrey Osotsi said that those predicting ODM’s downfall are “daydreaming,” insisting that the party will emerge even stronger in Odinga’s absence

He emphasized that ODM is reorganizing to reinforce its structures and warned political rivals against attempting to penetrate the party’s strongholds.

Echoing his remarks, Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Nasir noted that ODM was established as an institution and cannot be dismantled as easily as opponents may imagine.

He added that the party is positioning itself to either form the next government or play a key role in the administration that will be constituted after the 2027 general elections.

Party chairperson Gladys Wanga, Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga, and Migori governor Ochilo Ayacko reassured supporters that ODM remains intact. They called for unity among members to safeguard the party’s future.

The leaders spoke during the funeral of Dr. Oburu’s sister, Beryl Odinga, at Nyamira Primary School grounds in Bondo sub-county.

At the same event, the late Raila Odinga’s widow, Idah Odinga, reiterated that ODM faces no leadership vacuum despite the passing of its iconic figure.
