Amid ongoing divisions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership, a section of ODM veterans from across the Luo region have reaffirmed their unity and support for Oburu Oginga as the party leader, pledging to strengthen party structures in the region.
Speaking at a meeting in Homa Bay Town, Former Rangwe MP George Oner said ODM leaders in South Nyanza are united under Oginga’s leadership and have resolved to fully back him going forward.
He noted that the leaders agreed to work collectively to ensure the success of the party and to safeguard internal cohesion.
Oner further stated that ODM remains part of the broad-based government arrangement, a position he said will stand unless directed otherwise by Oginga, adding that this reflects the collective stand of the region.
He added that the party’s new slogans emphasize continuity and loyalty to ODM, underscoring members’ resolve to remain within the party and to build on the foundation laid by previous leadership.
Second Liberation Veterans Secretary General Kennedy Ogana called on ODM leaders to remain united and to speak with one voice under Oginga’s leadership.
He urged leaders to avoid taking divergent positions, saying the veterans recognize only one command structure within the party.
