Parliamentary Service Commission sports day wraps up in style

The inaugural Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) Sports Day concluded on November 1, 2025 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang’ata. This marked the end of a two-day friendly competition among parliamentary staff.

The event brought together employees from both the National Assembly and the Senate. “They competed in a wide range of outdoor sports, including athletics, swimming, volleyball, basketball, netball, football, and tug of war. Indoor games included badminton, table tennis, chess, pool, scrabble, and darts,” reads a post on Facebook by the Parliament of Kenya.

Team Black were the overall winners after securing the highest number of gold medals. The team featured staff from departments such as Finance and Accounting, Engineering and Maintenance, Security and Safety, and the Parliamentary Budget Office, among others. They were guided by Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye, the Clerk of the Senate, who served as Team Leader.

Team Red took second place as the first runners-up, led by Mr. Samuel Njoroge, Clerk of the National Assembly. The team had officers from Legal Services, Human Capital, Administrative Services, and Research, as well as members from the Offices of the Clerks and the Sergeant-at-Arms.

Coming in third, Team White earned the second runners-up position. The members included the PSC Secretariat, Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST), Hansard and Audio Services, Catering and Hospitality, and Litigation and Compliance.

Team Gold, led by Mr. Clement Nyandiere, Director-General of the Parliamentary Joint Services, received special recognition as the Most Disciplined Team. The team represented the Speakers’ Offices, ICT, Library, Committee Services, Internal Audit, and the Parliamentary Broadcasting Unit.

The Sports Day showed a spirit of unity and collaboration across all parliamentary departments. This event sets a stage for what is expected to be an annual tradition celebrating teamwork and a healthy workplace culture within Parliament.
