A routine long-distance journey to Nyamira took an unexpected and hilarious twist after a bus driver briefly misplaced the vehicle’s keys, sparking confusion, anger, and eventually laughter among passengers.
According to eyewitness accounts, the bus had made a 15-minute stopover to allow passengers to stretch, grab refreshments, and use the restroom.
When it was time to resume the journey, the driver realized the bus keys were missing. What followed was a tense moment as passengers, already eager to reach their destination, began questioning how such an oversight could happen.
Tempers flared as some passengers accused the driver of carelessness, wondering how a whole bus could be delayed simply because of misplaced keys.
The situation, however, took a dramatic turn when one passenger calmly showed up, keys in hand.
The man explained that during the stopover, he had gone to the restroom and feared the bus might leave without him.

To avoid being stranded in the middle of the night, he decided to carry the keys with him for safekeeping, ensuring the bus wouldn’t move until he was safely back on board.
A video of the incident later surfaced online, quickly going viral and attracting humorous reactions from Kenyans across social media. Many found the passenger’s move both clever and relatable.
“Yaani mlisema kila tukio lazima kuwe na camera man, I love my country Kenya,” one user commented.
“Saa nane usiku, date 21 December 2025, bado nacheka,” another added.
“Wa kubeba key ni legend, hawezi risk kuachwa,” wrote a third fan.
The incident has since been celebrated as a classic example of Kenyan humor, quick thinking, and the everyday travel experiences that often turn into unforgettable stories.
