Pastor Kanyari hits back at Mosiria over ‘nyama choma’ church service

Controversial preacher Pastor Victor Mwangi Kanyari has launched a fiery attack against Nairobi County’s Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria. The outburst follows Mosiria’s public criticism of Kanyari for allegedly hosting a ‘nyama choma’ service at his church altar.

The Pastor, clearly enraged, used his platform to hit back directly at the Chief Officer.

Pastor Kanyari began his response by stating he was “very angry,” a level of anger he claimed he had never experienced before. He accused Mosiria of unnecessarily picking a fight.

“Today I am very angry, and I have never been this angry, because of a person called Geoffrey Mosiria… Geoffrey Mosiria, you have angered me so much. I don’t know what you are looking for from me.”

He directly addressed Mosiria’s motives, suggesting the criticism was a ploy for attention.

Kanyari labelled Mosiria a “content creator,” and accused the official of seeking “fame” through the church controversy. “Don’t think you will get fame with Pastor Kanyari,” he warned.

The core of the dispute is Kanyari’s decision to have a nyama choma session inside the church premises. While Mosiria allegedly criticised the act as disrespecting the altar, Kanyari defended the gathering.

He stated that the meat-roasting was a direct part of his efforts to recruit new members into his church, positioning the act as a means of ministry and outreach.

The Pastor then challenged the official on his selective criticism.

“Why didn’t you call me out when I was doing good? Everyday people look forward to giving me stress.”

In a final swipe, Pastor Kanyari urged the Nairobi Governor to dismiss Mosiria from his position.

Kanyari argued that the county official was focused on “content creation” instead of his official duties. He then positioned himself as a more suitable candidate for the powerful city role, claiming he could do a better job.

“Geoffrey Mosiria, please, the Chief Officer for Environment, Nairobi, leave me alone. I am urging the Nairobi Governor to replace Mosiria’s post with someone like me.”

The row highlights the ongoing tension between religious figures and city authorities regarding public conduct and the use of urban spaces.
