Pastor Kanyari opens up about pressure over children’s custody after Betty Bayo’s death

Salvation Healing Ministry founder, Pastor Victor Kanyari, has revealed the intense pressure he is currently facing regarding the custody of his two children, Sky and Danny, following the passing of his ex-wife, gospel singer Betty Bayo.

Speaking to his congregation during a church service on Sunday, December 14, 2025, Kanyari noted a stark irony: the same individuals who previously criticised him are now demanding he take full control of the children.

The pastor described his current situation as a non-stop fight, claiming he is being relentlessly targeted on social media platforms. He stated that online critics are questioning why he hasn’t taken full custody yet.

The battle is being waged 24 hours a day.

He is targeted by ‘TikTokers and Facebookers’.

Critics are demanding, “Why isn’t he taking his children?”

Kanyari said he has chosen to ignore the noise and observe how the situation unfolds, highlighting the pressure and scrutiny he is facing from former critics turned sudden advisors.

“Kanyari is being fought a war 24 hours. Even now, TikTokers and Facebookers are fighting me, saying why isn’t he taking his children? Go for your children Kanyari, because they want to start fighting me in this war, and I am choosing to stay silent and watch them.”

While he has not made a final custody decision, Pastor Kanyari confirmed that he continues to spend time with Sky and Danny.

He recently shared a personal anecdote illustrating his dedication to their well-being, even amid public drama.

“I have been with my children. On Thursday, they called me saying they don’t have clothes to wear, but they have clothes, they just wanted new ones. Because I don’t like unnecessary fuss, we went shopping, and I bought them clothes worth Ksh 78,000.”

The man of God expressed that he often feels misunderstood by the public.

He recalled that recently, critics questioned why he was sharing screenshots of messages between himself and Betty Bayo on Facebook following her death.

Kanyari explained that he was compelled to share the communication precisely because he understands the nature of public opinion. He believes that if he didn’t provide proof, people would later claim he was absent or inactive in his children’s lives.

“Sometimes people don’t understand me. The other day they asked why I was posting messages on Facebook about what I was doing. I said I cannot fail to post because you will say I wasn’t doing anything, because I know human beings.”

During a live Facebook session with TikToker Obidan Dela on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, Kanyari preemptively dismissed claims that he might not be a capable father.

He drew a clear distinction between his roles:

“I am a good father. I may not be a good husband, but I am a good father.”

He confidently asserted that he can raise his children well, expressing his deep love for them and his commitment to their future.

“Sky and Danny, I love them, and they will live a good life, better than the one they were living.”

He also made it clear that his focus remains squarely on his family, refusing to be drawn into online drama or giving money to strangers while his children could be in need.
