Following the tragic passing of his ex-wife and mother of his children, gospel singer Betty Bayo, Pastor Victor Kanyari was moved to tears after receiving an unexpected show of support from his own employees.
The founder of Salvation Healing Ministries was surprised with a generous monetary condolence offering, delivered in bundles of cash, just days after Bayo’s burial.
In a video shared on faceboock on Sunday, November 23, 2025, the self-proclaimed prophet is seen becoming visibly emotional as he opened a grey envelope given to him by his staff. The envelope was stacked with crisp Ksh1,000 notes.
His immediate reaction was one of overwhelmed disbelief, mixed with gratitude:
“Gosh, I can’t believe you are gifting me money yet I have not even asked you for it even,” he exclaimed to his workers.
He emphasised that the gesture was entirely voluntary and then instructed everyone at his homestead to clap for his employees.
The surprise came after a difficult and public period of mourning and preparation for the funeral. Betty Bayo, renowned for hits like Busy Busy and 11th Hour, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025, after a brief battle with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) at the Kenyatta National Hospital private wing.
She was laid to rest just three days before the surprise gift, on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at her Mugumo Estate home.
The late singer leaves behind her two children with Kanyari, Sky and Dany, who now mourn the loss of their mother.
Pastor Kanyari was among the key figures involved in the funeral planning, which required a significant collective effort from the gospel community.
The burial committee set a Ksh5 million budget for a befitting send-off, and Prominent figures, including former President Uhuru Kenyatta, donated substantial sums, which quickly helped the committee meet the budget target.
The planning team included influential artistes and ministers such as Ben Githae, Shiru wa GP, Loise Kim, and Facebook influencer Karangu Muraya, among others.
The monetary surprise followed days of intense public scrutiny regarding Kanyari’s role in his children’s lives after his separation from the late singer. He publicly defended himself by releasing screenshots of past conversations with Betty Bayo.
The messages, which spanned from 2023 to early 2025, were intended to prove that he remained financially supportive and present for his children:
The screenshots showed Betty updating him on school matters and thanking him for payments.
In one exchange dated March 3, 2024, Betty confirmed receiving the Ksh50,000 he had sent for their daughter Sky’s acting school.
She followed up by thanking him for being present in Sky’s life and expressing optimism that Sky would “one day surprise you” for his efforts.
Kanyari intensified the posting of these messages on Friday, November 21, 2025, to counter claims that he was an absent or financially unsupportive father.
