Controversial Kenyan preacher Pastor James Maina Ng’ang’a has once again stirred conversation online after issuing strict instructions during a church service that left many talking.
In a video during a weekday service, the outspoken pastor ordered all church doors and toilets to be locked to prevent congregants from leaving during his sermon.
Addressing his congregation with his characteristic no-nonsense approach, Ng’ang’a expressed frustration over people rushing to leave before the service ends.
“Mko na haraka. Nione mtu ametoka hapa. Hata kesha hamkukuja tena Jumapili mnataka kukaa masaa mawili. What is that?” He questioned his congregation.
The pastor then made it clear that his church operates differently, declaring that it is run like the military rather than a typical church.
“Hii si kanisa hapa ni kwa jeshi. Sawa, hapa ni kwa jeshi. Kanisa ndiyo mliwacha,” he stated.
Taking his directive a step further, Ng’ang’a announced a complete ban on bathroom breaks during the service.
“And there’s no going to the toilet. Do I myself go to the toilet? No. All toilets should be locked. No one is allowed to sit there and then leave,” he instructed.
He then commanded that all doors be shut and instructed his followers to respond military-style.
“Semeni yes afande,” he ordered.
The congregation obediently responded in unison, “Yes afande,” prompting the pastor to burst into laughter at their compliance.
Known for his controversial statements and unconventional preaching style, Pastor Ng’ang’a continues to be one of Kenya’s most talked-about religious figures, never shying away from making headlines with his bold declarations.
