Pepsi and Diageo DROP Kanye West over antisemitic backlash

In a bold move, Pepsi and Diageo have officially withdrawn their sponsorship of London’s Wireless Festival, following backlash over rapper and fashion mogul, Kanye West’s headline performance.

The festival, set to take place in July, has faced intense criticism from figures like Sir Keir Starmer, Sir Sadiq Khan, and various Jewish organizations, all condemning West’s antisemitic past.

The controversy intensified when comedian Matt Lucas publicly called out Pepsi for their continued support of the festival, referencing West’s history of offensive actions, including selling swastika-themed merchandise and promoting hateful rhetoric.

Pepsi, once the festival’s key sponsor, has confirmed its decision to step back, stating: “Pepsi has decided to withdraw its sponsorship of Wireless Festival.”

Diageo, which owns Johnnie Walker and Captain Morgan, followed suit, citing concerns over the artist’s past behavior.

Despite Kenye West’s recent attempts at redemption — including a public apology blaming his actions on brain injury and bipolar disorder — the response has been mixed, with many questioning the sincerity of his regret.

As the festival’s largest sponsors pull out, the future of the event looks uncertain. Will Kanye’s controversial past overshadow his comeback, or will his performance be the breakthrough moment his fans have been waiting for?

Kanye West Antisemitic Remarks Uproar

West has a history of antisemitism, including releasing a song titled “Heil Hitler” and selling merchandise decorated in swastikas.

Writing on X, Lucas raised both of these incidents in a pithy tweet calling out both Wireless and Pepsi.

“Have you released a song called ‘Heil Hitler’?” Lucas asked. “Have you sold T-shirts with swastikas on them? Have you promised to go ‘death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE’?”

Kanye West’s Antisemitic Remarks Impact on His Career

His comments have led to massive professional consequences:

  • Brand partnerships with companies like Adidas, Balenciaga, and Vogue were terminated.
  • He faced public condemnation from figures like Sir Keir Starmer, Sadiq Khan, and Jewish organizations.
  • His performance at major events like Wireless Festival 2026 has faced significant opposition, with major brands like Pepsi and Diageo pulling sponsorship.

Despite his attempts to apologize, Kanye’s remarks on Jewish people and his ongoing controversial behavior have remained a dividing force, with many struggling to separate his actions from his artistic legacy.

Kanye West is in the midst of a comeback tour, releasing a new album – titled Bully – as well as touring the US.

Kanye’s past actions have left a trail of devastation and now the world is holding him accountable. The question is: Will Kanye’s apology be enough to mend his shattered legacy? Or is this the end of his comeback?
