PGK Equator Tour heads to Royal Nairobi Golf Club for season grand finale

Kenya’s professional golf calendar is set for a thrilling climax as the Grand Finale of the PGK Equator Tour tees off from Thursday, January 22 to Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club.

The season-ending event crowns a landmark inaugural campaign for the Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK), which launched the Equator Tour in July 2025 at Ruiru Sports Club.

Since then, the tour has crisscrossed the country’s premier golf courses, underscoring PGK’s commitment to growing the professional game and creating clear competitive pathways for local talent.

Over the past months, the tour has been hosted at Limuru Country Club, Mt. Kipipiri Golf & Resort, Nakuru Golf Club, Great Rift Valley Golf & Resort, Diamonds Leisure Golf Resort and Sigona Golf Club. The Nairobi finale now brings the curtain down on a season that has steadily grown in stature and competitiveness.

PGK has paid tribute to the host clubs and their members for their hospitality and support, noting that their involvement has been central to the success of the tour.

The body has also acknowledged the role played by key sponsors and partners, including NCBA Bank, Safaricom, Visa, Britam, Kenya Airways, Johnnie Walker and official technology partner Computech, whose backing has helped elevate the standard of professional golf in Kenya.

On the fairways, the 2025 season has produced emerging stars such as Joyce Wanjiru and Margaret Njoki, who recently turned professional, alongside the consistent Naom Wafula.

Experienced campaigners including Mutahi Kibugu, Njoroge Kibugu, Samuel Njoroge, Mohit Mediratta and Dismas Indiza have also delivered strong performances, ensuring keen competition throughout the tour.

All eyes will be on Greg Snow, who returns to defend his Order of Merit crown and is chasing a historic fourth PGK Equator Tour title.

Importantly, the Equator Tour doubles as the official qualifying route to the Magical Kenya Open. PGK is expected to announce the professionals who will represent the country at the prestigious February event at Karen Country Club during the Nairobi finale.

Beyond competition, PGK has continued to invest in player welfare through its Player Development Programme, focusing on mentorship, fitness and performance readiness.

With a second season set to be unveiled soon, the organisation says it is determined to build on this foundation as it pursues its long-term vision of producing world-class golfers under the banner, “Road to Olympics 2028.”
