Photos: Sombre mood as Sergeant John Kinyua killed in KDF chopper crash is laid to rest

Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Muriithi, a military personnel who died alongside General Francis Ogolla in a chopper crash, was laid to rest at their home in Kirimunge Village, Kirinyaga County.

Flight Technical Senior Sergeant John Kinyua Muriithi was on Friday, April 26 laid to rest at his farm in Kirimunge, Kirinyaga Central.

Sergeant Kinyua was among the nine Kenya Defence Forces officers who perished alongside Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla after their chopper crashed on April 18 at Sindar, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Hundreds of friends and family graced the burial ceremony held at Kirimunge Primary School grounds.

Although the military took part in their colleagues final send off, the ceremony was presided over by the local Catholic church where his father, Josphat Muriithi, is a catechist.

Secretary of Administration in the Ministry of Defence, Isaac Masinde, who represented the Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru, eulogized the fallen soldier as a diligent KDF officer who was fully devoted to his duty.

Masinde promised the family full support from the Ministry.
