Newly crowned 800m champion Lilian Odira has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the Kenya Prisons Service.

Odira received the promotion from the Director General of Prisons, Patrick M. Aranduh.


Odira produced a storming finish to win an astonishing women’s 800 metres world gold smashing her personal best by almost two seconds and erasing the 42-year-old championship record.


Director General of Prisons, Patrick M. Aranduh, commended Odira for her resilience and outstanding performance.
