Pistol found abandoned in a toilet, it had been stolen from a police officer in Migori

Police have recovered a pistol that had been stolen from a police officer, after it was abandoned in a toilet at a bar in Kehancha, Migori County.

The Duma model pistol with 15 bullets was placed in a toilet corner and wrapped in a shopping bag on Tuesday August 12, 2025 in the afternoon.

This was two days after it went missing from the same bar on Sunday night, according to the police.

The pistol was discovered by a cleaner who informed the authorities.

No suspect has been arrested in connection to the incident but police have launched investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, the incident prompted police to arrest and detain a Directorate of Criminal Investigations officer based in Kuria and a woman who was with him as investigations continue.

The officer attached to the Kuria DCI offices had been to a bar in the company of a female reveller when he realised his pistol with 15 bullets had gone missing.

However, the officer and the other female civilian were released after being interrogated as part of the ongoing investigations.
