Leaders and human rights defenders from West Pokot County have strongly condemned Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei over his previous remarks, when he termed Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen as incompetent and unfit to hold office.
This was after the Nandi Senator criticised Murkomen, while raising concerns over increased cases of insecurity in the country.
Addressing the media on Wednesday May 28, 2025 at a Kapenguria hotel, led by Veronica Long’ole, a human rights defender, they warned Cherargei, terming him as a leader who lacks respect to others and who cannot help in solving problems.
“We are aware that Cherargei has personal issues with Murkomen, we ask that you find a way to solve your issue but do not use your personal differences to create tension and paint Murkomen a negative image especially here in Kerio Valley,” Said Veronica Long’ole.
Locals also threatened to take action if Cherargei continued attacking Murkomen publicly.
Recently there has been increasing cases of insecurity in the country, as several leaders criticise Murkomen and the Kenya Kwanza government over alleged failure to offer a solution.
