Saba Saba Police and civilian casualties
In total, 52 police officers and 11 civilians were injured during the protests. Damaged property included 12 police vehicles, three government vehicles, and four civilian vehicles.
Additionally, among those arrested during the unrest was Manyatta MP Hon. Gitonga Mukunji, the statement revealed.
Moreover, the charges facing the suspects were not immediately detailed, but police indicated that all reported cases would be “thoroughly and expeditiously investigated.”
“The NPS commends the majority of Kenyans for being law-abiding and heeding the call to maintain law and order. However, certain individuals remained determined to engage in acts of lawlessness,” read the statement by NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga.

The police urged members of the public with information about individuals involved in criminal activities to report them to the nearest police station or through toll-free numbers 999, 911, 112, or anonymously via #FichuakwaDCI at 0800 722 203.
“The NPS remains steadfast and resolute in serving and protecting all Kenyans, residents, visitors, and their property,” the statement concluded.
The protests, rooted in calls for democratic reforms and government accountability, have gained momentum in recent years, often drawing strong police response.
Consequently, Monday’s events commemorating Saba Saba Day have marked one of the deadliest protest days in recent memory.
