Police arrest ex-convict who murdered his brother, recover gun loaded with 9 bullets in miraa plantation

Police in Meru County have arrested a 47-year-old ex-convict, Jason Kobia Mucoka, who is linked to a string of violent robberies in the area.

Mucoka, reports say, has been terrorising residents across Mutuati, Laare, Maua, and the broader Igembe region.

The suspect, police say, had only recently completed a 15-year prison sentence for the murder of his own brother.

Upon release from prison, he wasted no time returning to crime, arming himself with an illegal firearm, recruiting criminal associates, and openly threatening to shoot anyone who stood in his way within the Kabachi area.

Acting on credible intelligence, a joint security team moved in and arrested him in a swift, well-coordinated operation.

During interrogation, Mucoka led detectives to a concealed Patchet SMG loaded with six rounds of 9mm ammunition, hidden inside a miraa plantation just metres from his home.

The firearm and ammunition have been secured as exhibits and dispatched to the National Police Forensic Laboratory for ballistic analysis.

Mucoka is currently in custody and is set to be charged with robbery with violence, illegal possession of a firearm, and threats to kill.

Investigators are actively tracing the origin of the weapon, its ammunition supply chain, and any accomplices still at large.
