Police arrest suspected criminal gang members in Kwale, stolen items and 257 grams of cannabis sativa recovered

Police in Kwale County have arrested suspected members of a notorious criminal gang following a raid in the Ngeneni area of Lunga Lunga Township.

The operation, conducted by officers from Lunga Lunga Police Station after receiving a credible tip-off on the gang’s hideout. Among those arrested is a man believed to be a key gang member, wanted on an active murder warrant.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), the suspects were found in a single-room house, armed with machetes and smoking cannabis sativa.

A search of the premises led to the recovery of about 257 grams of cannabis, five machetes, and a black Tanzanian-registered motorcycle suspected to have been used in criminal activities.

Officers have lauded the public for providing information that led to the successful operation.

“This operation demonstrates our collective commitment and cooperation with members of the public to ensure the safety and security of residents. We will not relent in pursuing individuals who continue to terrorize communities.” Stated the officers.

The suspects are currently in police custody and will be arraigned once investigations are complete.

Authorities have urged members of the public to continue sharing information that may help in dismantling criminal networks in the region.
