Police hunt two teachers accused of killing a man over land dispute in Homa Bay

‎‎Police in Rangwe Sub-county, Homa Bay County, are pursuing two teachers accused of killing a man during a confrontation over a land boundary dispute.

‎‎One of the suspects is a head teacher at a local primary school, who is reported to have teamed up with his brother, also a teacher, to attack their neighbour, identified as Joseph Owuoth and his wife.

‎‎Gem Central Location Senior Chief Peter Oula said the land dispute involving the teachers had been taken to court and was scheduled for determination on February 18.

‎‎According to the administrator, residents reported that Owuoth, who retired last year, was heading home from church when he noticed part of the disputed land had been cultivated.

‎‎Oula said the man had planted maize on the section which was cultivated. This angered the retired teacher, who questioned his neighbour with whom they have had a longstanding land dispute.

‎‎The two parties reportedly confronted each other before the suspect allegedly used weapons he was carrying to attack Owuoth.

‎The chief said, the man and his wife both sustained broken bones.

‎Owuoth was rushed to Kisii County Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

‎‎Police have launched investigations and appealed to the suspects to surrender as efforts to trace them continue.
