Police intercept uncustomed goods in Malaba, Busia County

During a targeted operation conducted in Malaba town, Busia County, police officers flagged down a lorry, registration number KDD 287U (an Isuzu FRR).

Upon being stopped, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The lorry was then towed to Malaba Police Station, where a multi-agency team searched.

During the inspection, officers discovered 32 drums, each suspected to contain 250 litres of ethanol, concealed beneath 52.5 white sacks of suspected wheat bran.

Both the vehicle and the consignment have been secured at the station pending further investigations while efforts to trace and apprehend the driver are ongoing.
