A police officer has been arrested in connection with a series of violent robberies reported in Bondo, Siaya County.
According to a police incident report filed at Bondo Police Station, Police Constable Mark Owino was apprehended on February 7, 2026 at Holo Police Station at around 7:40 p.m.
His arrest follows investigations into a robbery with violence incident reported at Lwala Kotiende Police Station on February 4, 2026, at 3:40 a.m.
The incident occurred at Ajigo Trading Center, where armed robbers were captured on CCTV cameras harassing a trader before stealing from him and fleeing on a motorcycle.
Authorities confirmed that Owino is currently in custody and will assist with investigations, including an identification parade.
He is expected to be arraigned in Bondo Law Court on February 9, 2026.
The case is being handled by the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) in Bondo.
