Police officer attacked and killed along the road in Siaya

Police have launched investigations after a police officer was attacked and killed in Rarieda, Siaya County.

This was after the body of Constable Christone Maundu of Aram Police Station was found on Thursday, July 17, 2025 on the Ndori-Luanda Kotieno Road.

According to the police report, the incident happened as the officer waited for help after his motorcycle ran out of fuel.

His body was found near Rarieda Secondary School, with deep cut wounds on the head.

The motive of the murder is yet to be known and no suspect has been arrested so far.

Meanwhile, a motorcycle he was riding was recovered from the crime scene as officers documented the evidence for further analysis.

Maundu had earlier escorted his two colleagues and was riding back to Aram shopping centre aboard the motorcycle when he met his death.

The deceased had called his colleagues seeking help, before he was attacked by unknown people.

By the time his colleagues arrived at the scene, they found him lying in a pool of blood and motionless.

Senior police officers visited the scene and announced that investigations are ongoing to ensure suspects involved face the full force of the law.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the police officer tried to fight and resist a robbery, prompting the fatal stabbing. Reports further indicate a possibility of the officer being trailed and killed for unknown reasons.
