A police officer was shot and killed while on duty at the Lokori Deputy County Commissioner’s office in Turkana County.
The incident happened on Monday November 3, 2025 as assailants grabbed the AK-47 rifle from the police officer and escaped with it. The rifle was loaded with 30 bullets.
According to the police report, Constable Chrispine Ouma was shot in the head and died instantly following the attack.
The officer and a colleague were guarding an examination container at the DCC’s office in Lokori when the incident happened on Monday at 4 am.
The colleague reported that he heard a gunshot, and on checking, he realised Ouma was dead and his rifle missing.
Police removed the body from the scene to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
Meanwhile, Police have launched investigations into the incident to recover the stolen weapon and ensure culprits face the law.
A 7.62mm bullet cartridge was recovered at the crime scene, police said.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the killers were after the officer’s weapon.
Senior security officials in the area visited the scene as part of the probe into the attack.
Parts of Turkana have been under constant attacks from armed men out of revenge or to steal animals or weapons.
The area has been experiencing cases of armed attacks amid efforts to address the menace.
