A group of police officers drawn from the Kenya Police Service, General Service Unit (GSU), and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have demanded inclusion of financial management and technology in their training curriculum.
The officers made the remarks on Saturday June 7, 2025 in Migori town while marking 19 years of service since their deployment in 2006, celebrating their journey while reflecting on the challenges faced in the line of duty.
Led by their chairman Gregory Ogola, the officers used the occasion to call on the government to prioritize training in financial management, citing the need for officers to be better equipped to handle their earnings and plan for the future.
The group also emphasized the need for regular training in modern technology to keep pace with evolving crime trends, noting that effective policing in the digital age requires up-to-date technical skills.
In a solemn moment during the celebrations, the officers lit candles in memory of their colleagues who lost their lives while serving the nation.
The event highlighted both the dedication and the evolving needs of Kenya’s security personnel, as they called for greater support to help them serve more effectively.
