A terror suspect was on Tuesday night arrested in Nairobi after police officers on patrol discovered explosive materials in his possession.
According to the National Police Service (NPS) ,the arrest occurred at approximately 11:20 PM on Tuesday, June 17, when the suspect’s evasive and erratic behavior attracted the attention of officers from Kamukunji Police Station.
Police initiated a stop-and-search, during which they inspected a bag carried by the 22-year-old individual.
Upon a further search, officers discovered 21 detonators, 21 packets of a white substance suspected to be ammonium nitrate, a five-metre-long electric cable, and other undisclosed items.
The suspect was immediately detained and subsequently handed over to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) for further interrogation. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
