Police raid Governor Natembeya’s home in Kitale

Police on Monday May 19, 2025 raided the home of Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya in Kitale.

Reports indicate that Governor Natembeya is being investigated by the  Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The early Monday morning operation was led by anti-riot police officers, working in coordination with EACC officials.

The incident attracted residents and Natembeya’s supporters who flocked to the scene and confronted the officers.

Police had a rough time controlling the crowd, as additional police were deployed to restore order.

Chanting ‘Tawe Movement’ slogans, the governor’s supporters accused the police of being used to settle political scores.

The incident came just a day after Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka raised alarm over a possible crackdown on Governor Natembeya, who is a vocal critic of President William Ruto’s administration.

Kalonzo claimed that the EACC had been granted a search warrant, to search Natembeya’s properties, arrest him and later release him.

“If you are the governor and you don’t toe the line of those in leadership of the highest level, they will send EACC after you, but I want to say that the commission should not be used,” he said.

”Governor Natembeya is threatened as we speak, and on Monday, which is tomorrow, they have obtained a search warrant to go and search his house,” he added.

According to Kalonzo, the plot to apprehend the Trans Nzoia Governor has been fabricated with the aim of tarnishing his name.
