Police recover firearm after chase in Huruma, Nairobi

Police officers conducting a routine night patrol in Huruma, Starehe Sub-County, have recovered a firearm in the early hours of November 19, 2025.

During their patrol, the officers spotted a person whose behavior raised suspicion. Upon noticing the police presence, the individual immediately took flight, prompting officers to give chase.

In the course of the pursuit, the fleeing suspect dropped an item before vanishing into a dark alleyway.

The officers secured the scene and retrieved the discarded item, which turned out to be a firearm. Crime scene personnel were called in to document the recovery, and the weapon has been placed in secure custody awaiting forensic examination and further analysis.

Investigations are currently underway to identify and locate the suspect who fled from the scene. The case has been handed over to the appropriate investigative units for follow-up action.

The National Police Service has praised the vigilance and quick response of the officers involved in the recovery.

The service has also appealed to members of the public to remain alert and share any information that could aid law enforcement efforts in maintaining community safety and security.
