Police have recovered four illegal firearms during an intelligence-led operation in the Lowangila and Ariemet areas of Isiolo County.
The recovered weapons comprise two G3 rifles, one M16 rifle, and one AK-47 rifle, along with four magazines and ammunition.
The National Police Service said the operation was the result of a deliberate multi-agency collaboration, noting that the recovery reflects the effectiveness of ongoing security operations and the growing cooperation between security agencies and local communities.
The firearms have been documented and secured pending further police action.
The recovery comes a day after police netted 26 illegal firearms in Turkana County following an operation in Katilu as part of an ongoing peaceful disarmament exercise.
The weapons included 21 AK-47 rifles, two M16 rifles, two MK4 firearms, and one G3 rifle.
The NPS attributed the success to growing community cooperation, saying it continues to reflect the effectiveness of ongoing sensitisation efforts encouraging individuals to relinquish illegal weapons.
The NPS reaffirmed its commitment to targeted operations and community engagement, stating that lasting security is best achieved not only through enforcement, but through trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility.
Authorities urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by sharing intelligence that could lead to the recovery of more illegal weapons and the enhancement of peace and stability across the region.
