Police recover stolen livestock in Isiolo

Security agencies and community leaders in Isiolo County concluded a recovery operation following a series of livestock thefts and retaliatory incidents.

The operation was initiated in response to a report filed at Isiolo Police Station earlier this month, in which cattle rustlers stole five cows from a resident.

In retaliation, herdsmen from the affected community carried out a raid in the Lurubae area of Archers Post, stealing an unknown number of goats and sheep. This second incident was recorded at Archers Post Police Station.

“Following these reports, the National Police Service, National Government Administration Officers, and respected elders from both sides engaged in dialogue and coordinated efforts to trace and recover the stolen livestock,” NPS said in a statement.

The recovered livestock were formally handed over to their rightful owners in a brief meeting held at Ngaremara Centre. The handover was attended by the OCS Archers Post, the Assistant Chief of Attan Location (Ngaremara Division), community elders, and local leaders.

“The presence of these stakeholders reflected a shared commitment to restoring trust, promoting peace, and curbing further incidents of rustling in the area. This collaborative effort led to the successful recovery of eight cows and 120 goats,” NPS said.
