Apostle James Ng’ang’a popularly known as Pastor Ng’ang’a of Neno Evangelism Centre has weighed in on the growing issue of police brutality during protests in Kenya.
Speaking during a church service on Sunday June 29, 2025, Ng’ang’a criticized the police for using excessive force on peaceful protesters as he urged Kenyans to remain calm.
He raised concern over the recent increase in violence between police and citizens emphasizing on the heartbroken parents and devastated families that lost their loved ones.
The apostle also advised Kenyans not to resort to violence against the police as a retaliatory attack.
“I’m not saying citizens should attack the police. The police help us, if someone steals from you, you call the police. If someone hurts you, you report to the police. They help everyone,” he stated.
Ng’ang’a also strongly criticized Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen for saying that the police should use their guns to protect themselves, saying such comments could be misunderstood as encouraging violence.
“Pray for the police. These are very difficult times. Some people are out here saying ‘kill them.’ But remember, if someone kills, they won’t flee to your mother’s house. Once their job is done, they’ll go back to their lives. Those inciting others should stop their incitement,” he firmly stated.
He also told politicians and leaders to remain humble and not to be obsessed with power.
“You just got into office, and you’re still young. Take it easy, some of you act like you started the government. It used to belong to Moi and Kenyatta, and it will keep changing hands. Don’t act like Kenya is only yours,” he said with conviction.
