Premier League Weekend: Arsenal affirm top spot

Arsenal tightened their grip on the title race with a 2–1 win over Chelsea at the Emirates, restoring a five-point cushion at the top of the table.

It was a mature, controlled performance. William Saliba opened the scoring from a corner after Gabriel overpowered Reece James to set him up.

Chelsea responded and briefly shifted momentum, but Arsenal stayed composed. Jurrien Timber struck the decisive goal, again from a corner, underlining Arsenal’s ruthlessness in key moments.

Manchester City applied pressure a day earlier with a narrow 1–0 win at Leeds United. Without Erling Haaland, City relied on structure and patience.

Antoine Semenyo’s first-half goal proved enough. City dominated and did exactly what a title challenger must do away from home: win without drama. The gap is five points, but the sense is that this race is far from settled.

Manchester United climbed into third place with a 2–1 comeback win over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Maxence Lacroix opened the scoring for Palace, finishing from inside the box to stun the home crowd.

United leveled through a Bruno Fernandes penalty. Lacroix was later sent off, shifting the balance of the match.

Benjamin Sesko then powered home a header for the winner, rising above the defense to seal the turnaround.

Liverpool delivered the most explosive display of the weekend, dismantling West Ham 5–2 at Anfield. The attacking movement was direct and relentless, with Liverpool stretching the pitch and punishing defensive gaps.

West Ham had moments, but they were consistently overrun. The win keeps Liverpool firmly in the hunt for Champions League qualification.

Elsewhere, Everton edged Newcastle 3–2, and Brentford outscored Burnley 4–3 in a seven-goal thriller. Brighton beat Nottingham Forest 2–1 to steady their position, Fulham defeated Tottenham 2–1 to deepen Spurs’ relegation woes, and Bournemouth drew 1–1 with Sunderland.

Arsenal leads the table, the title fight remains intense, and the battle for the top four is tightening with every passing week.
