President William Ruto arrived at Ithookwe Stadium on Monday October 20, 2025 in the morning to lead the Mashujaa Day celebrations that has attracted thousands of Kenyans and delegates.
Thousands of Kenyans flocked Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County on Monday morning to witness the national event.
Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is among invited heads of State attending the event.
At the fete, hundreds of Kenyans (Shujaas) will be recognized for their outstanding impact in the country.
The celebrations come a day after former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga was laid to rest at his home in Bondo.
Raila’s death on October 15, had spread uncertainty about the Mashujaa Day celebrations.
There had been speculations that the event had been canceled due to the ongoing national mourning for the late former PM.
However, government spokesperson, Isaac Mwaura, dismissed the claims and assured the country that the celebrations would continue as planned.
Mashujaa Day is a special day in Kenya’s history and is aimed at celebrating the country’s heroes and heroines.
