President Ruto invites Aga Khan to Kenya for Ismaili Imamat recognition to top civil honours

President William Ruto has extended a formal invitation to His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan to visit Kenya for the official signing of a landmark agreement recognizing the Ismaili Imamat and to receive the nation’s highest civil honour — the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (C.G.H.).

The announcement was made after President Ruto held a meeting at State House, Nairobi, with His Highness’s envoy, H.E. Sultan Ali Allana.

The two discussed the long-standing partnership between Kenya and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), particularly in the areas of health, education, and community development.

“I appreciate the work undertaken by the AKDN in Kenya, especially in health and education,” President Ruto stated in a social media post following the meeting.

The proposed visit and recognition ceremony underscore Kenya’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Ismaili community and acknowledging the Aga Khan’s significant contributions to national development.
