Detectives have been conducting an extensive analysis of information obtained from multiple sources and recorded statements from persons of interest.
Both Senator Khaniri and his wife Eunice Chelagat have recorded statements with the DCI to help with the investigations.
The DCI noted that Khaniri, together with his wife Eunice, visited the accident scene on the day of the incident and assisted in facilitating the transfer of Jirongo’s remains from Naivasha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary to Lee Funeral Home.
Additionally, an autopsy on the deceased body established among other findings that the deceased had crush chest injuries, broken sternum with lacerations on the heart, liver and Kidneys.
The pathologist opined that the cause of death was multiple crush injuries due to blunt force trauma.
“The DCI urges media houses, members of the public, and political leaders to exercise restraint and refrain from making unsubstantiated statements that may prejudice ongoing investigations, cause unnecessary public anxiety, or unfairly injure the character of individuals who have cooperated with investigators,” read part of DCI statement.
Meanwhile, the DCI expressed its commitment to conducting impartial, thorough, and expeditious investigations in strict accordance with the law.
