Residents of Kwa Wanjiku village in Marmanet Ward, Nyahururu Sub County took to the streets blocking the busy Nyahururu-Kinamba road after a 23 year old man took his own life.
According to the residents, the young man committed suicide as result of the aftermath of the injuries sustained after being attacked by a well-known man with a knife in December 2025.
The villagers raised concerns over a series of knife attacks that have left several people nursing injuries and even deaths.
In this incident, Joseph Ndirangu, the deceased was viciously attacked in December 2025, resulting in serious injuries as he was admitted to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital while in coma.

His family says despite undergoing surgery and showing signs of improvement and recovery through therapy sessions, he was taken back home because of the burden of treatment which the family could not afford.
At home, Ndirangu could be seen disturbed emotionally which led to him excluding himself from the rest and later he could not even utter a word.
This, the family says was contributed mainly by the fact that the person who attacked him was walking freely in the community even threatening his family and in the vulnerable condition Ndirangu was in, he could not help.
It was then discovered that Joseph Ndirangu took his own life on Wednesday 19th February 2026 inside his house due to stress and depression as alleged.
Meanwhile, the alleged attacker, identified as Francis Lomewo (also known as Pusii), reportedly continued moving freely in the area, allegedly threatening more violence.
Residents say the emotional distress of seeing his alleged attacker unpunished contributed to Joseph’s tragic decision to take his own life.
Ndirangu’s tragic death led to protest by angered residents who blocked the busy Nyahururu- Kinamba highway demanding for urgent intervention and answers from the police.
The residents initially barred the police from removing Joseph’s body until they got answers but family members stepped in to de-escalate the situation and the body was taken to Nyahururu Sub County Referral Hospital Morgue awaiting postmortem.
Nyahururu Sub County Police Commander Joseph Matiku confirmed the incident, assuring the residents that immediate measures have been taken to address the issues and committing that officers at the Kwa Wanjiku Police Post will be accountable for the alleged negligence.
