PS Imbunya presides over 2nd Annual Women in HR breakfast meeting

The Principal Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Dr Jane Kere Imbunya, on Monday 9th March, 2026 graced the 2nd Annual Women in HR Breakfast Event as the Chief Guest in Nairobi.

The event brought together human resource professionals, policy leaders, and industry stakeholders to reflect on the role of women in shaping inclusive workplaces and strengthening leadership across institutions.

The meeting organized by the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) under the leadership of its Executive Director, CHRP Quresha Abdullahi provided an important platform to celebrate women’s contributions to the HR profession while also addressing persistent gender gaps in leadership positions within both the public and private sectors.

Speaking during the event, Dr. Imbunya emphasized that women remain central to the social and economic fabric of the nation. She noted that women anchor families, strengthen communities, and increasingly shape institutions that drive development.

“Women are at the heart of our nation’s progress. When we invest in women’s advancement and leadership, we strengthen our institutions and unlock greater prosperity for society as a whole,” said Dr. Imbunya.

Dr. Imbunya reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to closing gaps in leaderdhip through constitutional provisions on equality, gender-responsive HR policies, and initiatives that promote mentorship and leadership development for women in public service.

Echoing the call for action, IHRM Executive Director Quresha Abdullahi underscored the responsibility of HR leaders in driving change.

“Human resource professionals are uniquely positioned to shape workplace culture. By promoting fairness, inclusivity, and opportunity, we can create environments where women not only participate but lead and thrive,” she said.
