PSG pocket KSh 797 million after stunning Tottenham Hotspur to win the 2025 UEFA Super Cup

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) staged a dramatic late comeback to beat Tottenham Hotspur and clinch the 2025 UEFA Super Cup at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy taking home a cool €5.1 million (approx. KSh 797 million) in prize money.

The French champions, fresh from winning their first-ever UEFA Champions League title, added their fifth trophy of the season in spectacular fashion.

Tottenham, winners of last season’s UEFA Europa League, looked on course for victory after centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero struck to give them a 2-0 lead.

But PSG hit back late in the second half, with Kang-in Lee and Goncalo Ramos finding the net to force a penalty shootout.

New PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier, who had earlier made a costly error, turned hero by saving van de Ven’s spot kick, sealing the win for Luis Enrique’s side.

According to Diario AS, both clubs pocketed €4 million (approx. KSh 625 million) just for participating in the showpiece match. PSG’s triumph earned them an extra €1.1 million (approx. KSh 172 million), bringing their total haul to €5.1 million.

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank, managing his first competitive match since replacing Ange Postecoglou, praised his players’ effort despite the heartbreak.

“It was like a special operation that succeeded, but the patient died,” Frank remarked, highlighting Spurs’ strong performance before succumbing to PSG’s star quality.

With the Super Cup now secured, PSG continue their dominance in European football, while Spurs turn their attention to their Premier League opener against newly-promoted Burnley.
