The stage is set for one of the biggest nights in European football as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) face off against Inter Milan in the 2025 UEFA Champions League (UCL) Final tonight at the Allianz Arena.
Tonight from 10pm EAT history will be written in the UEFA Champions League competition as it will mark the first Champions League final since 2004 not to feature a team from England, Spain, or Germany.
It is also the first competitive meeting between PSG and Inter Milan in UEFA history, adding to the allure of the highly anticipated final by fans across the whole world.
After eliminating Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate with wins both home and away,PSG under Spanish tactician Luis Enrique will be chasing their maiden UEFA champions League trophy which has eluded them despite coming so close in the recent recent years.
Their last UCL final appearance in Lisbon, Portugal 2020 ended in a painful loss to 6 times champions Bayern Munich after PSG’s former player Kingsley Koman’s second half goal was enough to prolong the french side’s wait for Champions League glory.
After having an excellent post Mbappe first season in which they have already secured Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions titles, nothing more could have motivated the to securing the club’s first-ever quadruple.
If manager Luis Enrique to defeats Inter Milan, he will become just the sixth coach in UCL history to win the competition with two different clubs. During the routine pre-match conference, he insisted his team was ready for the biggest club football match when asked about the team’s meantal resilience.
“This is a team that has quietly become used to playing finals, these are situations we’ve been already been in and experienced, so yeah mental aspects and motivation are important but we are used to this” Enrique said
After eliminating Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal, three of the four English teams in the competition on their way to this final, PSG are equally good for the trophy and will be boosted by the fact that all their players are available for selection, that’s not to say PSG will have an easy day as Inter Milan, coached by Simone Inzaghi, arrive in Munich with confidence after eliminating two European giants,Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
The Nerazzurri have been clinical and resilient throughout the campaign, showing balance in attack and defense.
“We fully deserved to be here because right from match day 1 we’ve shown a great deal of desire away at Manchester City, Arsenal Leverkusen,Leipzig, Barcelona, Bayern they were top class opposition Munich but we are still one step shy” said Simone Inzaghi.
Featuring in their first final after their 1-0 to Manchester City in their last final appearance in the 2022-23 season, Inter come into this epic fixture full of confidence after eliminating a fully firing Barcelona in a closely contested semifinals.
Inter will be looking to add on to their three UCL trophies. Joaquin Correa and Valentin Carboni are the only absentees ahead of the final.
As fans fill the 75,000-seat Allianz Arena in Munich and millions more watch from home, a new UCL Champion is set to claim the title from defending and record Champions Real Madrid.
