The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is gripped by internal tension as Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna faces serious accusations of undermining the party by Oketch Salah, Raila Odinga’s adopted son.
At the center of the storm is businessman Oketch Salah, the adopted son of the late Raila Odinga, who claims the former Prime Minister had foreseen Sifuna’s potential betrayal.
Speaking in Kisumu on Christmas Eve, Oketch painted a dramatic picture of Raila’s last days, revealing that Baba had grown increasingly wary of Sifuna’s loyalty.
According to Oketch, Raila had already sensed that Sifuna was being used as a mole, quietly working to destabilize the party from within.

“Another thing he told me, and it’s coming true, was about Edwin Sifuna. He said Sifuna was someone else’s dog, and now we can see exactly what he meant,” Oketch disclosed, his voice heavy with emotion.
The businessman added that Sifuna’s defiance of ODM’s broad-based arrangements, especially his opposition to alliances with the UDA party, had long been evident—even before Raila’s passing.
“Even before Baba’s death, Sifuna went public, declaring he would not support any arrangements with Ruto, even if Raila endorsed it. His mind was already made up, and he’s been playing tricks within ODM ever since. I have the evidence on my WhatsApp,” Oketch asserted.
Oketch didn’t mince words about Sifuna’s attempts to undermine party leadership, particularly targeting Senator Oburu Oginga, who aligns with President William Ruto.
“Oburu must be respected. We will not allow self-serving renegades like Sifuna to manipulate and destabilize our party,” he warned.

In a revelation that adds a historical weight to the claims, Oketch stated that Raila had intended to support Ruto’s 2027 re-election, leaving the ODM firmly within the broad-based government framework.
“Baba left us in the broad-based government knowingly, and he told me directly that he would back President William Ruto in 2027. I will stand by that truth until the end,” Oketch said, recalling the final trips he took with Raila abroad, from Dubai to India.
With these allegations, the shadow of distrust looms large over ODM, raising questions about loyalty, ambition, and the fragile balance of political alliances within Kenya’s leading opposition party.
