Gem Member of Parliament (MP), Elisha Ochieng Odhiambo has challenged the government and research agencies to investigate the cause of the upsurge in the number of Kenyans succumbing to cardiac arrest in the recent years.
According to Odhiambo, the number of incidents where people collapse and die suddenly was worrying, especially after the Covid vaccines were administered a few years ago.
Speaking at St. Kizito, Mutumbu and St. Teresa, Yala Catholic Churches where he presided over funds drive in aid of the parishes, Odhiambo said there is suspicion that the vaccines administered during the Covid era could be the cause of the upsurge in sudden deaths across the country.
“I am asking the Kenya Medical research Institute (KEMRI) and the medical fraternity to delve into the matter and help the citizens so that we do not continue losing many people” said the legislator who was flanked by Yala Town member of the county assembly, William Kinyanyi and father Clement Oluoch among others.
The MP at the same time sent a message of condolence to the family and friends of the late Festus Amimo who collapsed and died on Monday December 7, 2025.
Until his death, Amimo was the head of Mayienga FM, a subsidiary of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
